Hullabaloo is a well-equipped, updated 2007 Catalina 400 MKII. We are the third owners and have sailed and lived on her for the past two years. She is docked in Kapolei, Oahu, Hawaii. By all accounts she is a stunning boat.
We bought Hullabaloo (hull 343, two-cabin design, seven ft keel) from a compulsively clean couple who owned her for four years. During their watch they added a new battery bank, new 120 percent genoa, new strut, new PYI dripless shaft seal, and two new commodes (one electric). The boat was hauled by the previous owners in 2018 for an inspection survey and hauled again in 2020 for bottom paint and a strut upgrade. Hullabaloo was hauled in September of 2022 for bottom paint and new rudder bushings. She was most recently hauled in March, 2023 to install a new rudder.
The former owners replaced the standing rigging, updated the running rigging, added air-conditioning, updated the battery charger/controller, replaced the commodes, replaced the microwave with new, and more. We have continued to maintain and upgrade Hullabaloo.
After buying Hullabaloo in 2021 we swapped in a new 16,000 BTU Dometic air-conditioning unit, upgraded the single, wet-cell lead acid battery bank to split banks -- an Optima Bluetop AGM starter bank (one, 12v) and an SOK Lithium Iron Phosphate house bank (two, 206 amp/hour batteries). We upgraded the fixed three-blade prop to a new three-blade Max-Prop Easy, installed a new Tides Marine Sail Track system on the mast, and upgraded the original main sail with a new North Sails main. We upgraded the conventional main sail cover with a new Sunbrella stack pack (and added Dyneema jack lines), upgraded the 35 lb Manson Supreme anchor that was on the boat when we bought her to a 45 lb Manson Supreme anchor (more suitable for a 40 ft boat), replaced the older single-lever throttle assembly with a new one, and swapped in new throttle and transmission cables. We removed and rebed the two portlights in the back cabin.
Under our watch Hullabaloo was hauled in September, 2022. Her bottom was lightly machine sanded and then painted with two coats of Interlux Micron 66 bottom paint. A full set of new rudder bearings/bushings were installed.
Hullabaloo's most recent haul-out was March, 2023. We installed the new rudder (painted with Interlux InterProtect 2000E primer and three coats of Interlux Micron 66 bottom paint). While the boat was on the stand we cleaned, waxed and polished the blue bootstrap toward the waterline, cleaned through-hulls, cleaned the transducer facing, cleaned and greased the Max Prop, swapped in new zincs.
Hullabaloo is a perfect liveaboard and inter-island cruiser. She has two staterooms, each with a dedicated head (aft head with walk-in shower, forward head with electric commode). Her aft stateroom has a near-king size, near-walk around bed you won’t find on many other aft-cockpit 40’ boats. Her salon and seating areas are elegant with light wood paneling throughout and accent lighting, all LED.
She has a twin helm design that makes her a dream to sail and allows easy access to the transom and swim step while at anchor and playing in the water. She makes a great dive boat.

Hullabaloo has performed very well over the two years that we've owned her. We are based on Oahu and have sailed Hullabaloo to Lanai, Maui, Molokai, a full rounding of Oahu, in addition to numerous overnights to Makua Bay, Pokai Bay, Electric Beach and Kaneohe Bay. We are meticulous owners -- no pets, no smoking, no heavy cooking onboard -- and have always kept Hullabaloo clean and sharp looking. Our buyer's in-water survey (2021) is available; an out-of-water hull survey (2022) is also available. Hullabaloo is a Coast Guard documented boat; she has no liens against her, all her paperwork is current.
Hullabaloo is docked at Ko Olina Marina, Oahu, Hawaii.
